Bio
Hi! My name is Mrs. Templeton and I have over nine years of teaching experience. I believe each student can thrive through enriching learning opportunities that actively engage and encourage students to persevere. I believe that a student's individual needs and success can be met through building student confidence and facilitating growth in a positive environment. I earned a Master's of Elementary Education from Texas State University and a BA in English from Texas A&M University. I would describe my teaching personality as patient, adaptable to a variety of learner needs, and enthusiastic about keeping learners engaged. I believe empathy in understanding a student's emotional cues and providing a safe learning environment allows students the confidence to ask questions, make mistakes and view learning as an exciting discovery of knowledge. My favorite things in the world are spending time with my family, reading, running, and helping others on their learning journey.
Teacher Specialization
I completed GT training and earned certifications in ESL (English as a Second Language), Special Education Specialist Grades EC-12 and Family Consumer Sciences Grades 6-12. In my years as a 2nd Grade and 4th Grade classroom teacher I served as a New Teacher Mentor, Geography Bee Club Sponsor, Student Council and UIL Sponsor and STAAR tutor. My leadership experiences as a Professional Learning Community Grade allowed me to gain experience in developing grade level assessments, engaging lesson plans, and valuable data review analysis. I facilitated virtual learning in a 1st grade classroom and gained experience in making learning engaging outside of a traditional classroom.
