Bio

Hello, my name is Mrs. Murphy. I recently retired from working as an educator after 26 years. I am so excited for the opportunity to work with students as a tutor because I know deep down that I can never truly retire. My job as a tutor is to support my students in their learning. I will act as a facilitator during our time together. I will supply many different tools and techniques, and together with the students, we will decide what works best for them to be successful. My goal is and always has been for my students to take ownership of their learning. I want to help students take risks with their learning, be creative in their thinking, and develop a lifelong love of learning. It is important for me to build a supportive and inclusive environment for all of my students. My students know that I am here to help them to the best of my ability. When I am not working with students, I can be found out in my gardens or playing with my dog!

Teacher Specialization

I have a B. S. degree in Elementary Education from the University of New England in Maine and an M.ED in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University in Massachusetts. I have taught all subjects in grades 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5. I also worked as Assistant Principal of Academics. During my years as an educator, I have written curricula in both English Language Arts and Mathematics for my school district. I have also presented at various conferences concerning student learning.
