Bio
Hello! My name is Sarah Babcock, and I am excited to start our learning journey together! I am a motivated, detail-oriented teacher who is committed to the success of all learners. I have experience in developing, planning and implementing classroom curriculum in all subject areas. I am knowledgeable on maintaining records to map student growth and leveraging that data to differentiate instruction for individual learners. Additionally, I value building positive relationships with students and families which I believe encourages a strong foundation for life-long learning. I believe that fostering student success is pivotal in helping learners stay motivated, confident and resilient when facing and overcoming academic challenges. I am a mom of two active boys (ages 4 and 7)! My husband and I will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary in January. We have two dogs that fill our lives with so much joy and love. I enjoy running, cooking/baking, and spending time with my family and dogs.
Teacher Specialization
I taught Kindergarten for seven years before stepping away from traditional classroom teaching when my first son was born. I am on my third year teaching preschool. I have enjoyed using my background and applying my knowledge in teaching my own children. I have a strong passion for early literacy skills. My teaching strengths are: (Literacy) reading readiness, sight words, phonics, reading comprehension, fluency and rate of reading, critical thinking and writing; (Math) number recognition/formation, counting and cardinality, number sense, numbers and operations in base 10, measurement and data, geometry, operations and algebraic thinking (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), and word problems. I have an Indiana state teaching license. I graduated from Purdue University in 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
