Hello!! My name is Shatoya :) I am a passionate educator and a PhD candidate dedicated to fostering a positive learning environment that promotes critical thinking and creativity. My teaching philosophy centers on student engagement and the belief that every student has the potential to succeed. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching science, resulting in several highlights, such as implementing innovative instructional strategies that significantly improved student outcomes. I have 8 years of experience as a science educator. I hold a Master of Science in Leadership & Management and a Bachelor of Science in Biology, which has equipped me with a strong foundation in my field. I am certified by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission in Science (6-12). My approach to teaching is characterized by enthusiasm, patience, and adversity. I specialize in designing clear, structured science instruction. My work focuses on helping students understand science concepts through well‑crafted learning targets, essential questions, and vocabulary routines. I build lessons using strong instructional design practices, including “I Do/We Do” modeling, targeted vocabulary strategies, and scaffolded supports that help students master complex scientific ideas.
