Bio
Hello, I am Ms. Shelia, I am observed as being dedicated, motivated and I have a true passion for teaching. I chose to become a Tutor to help students build their confidence, achieve academic excellence and so they can improve their understanding of the English language. I enjoy traveling especially cruising, I enjoy roller skating, and I anticipate learning how to play the guitar. Students will receive feedback in a nurturing and supportive manner. My commitment for student growth and academic excellence include setting clear goals and fostering active learning. I thrive to build positive and meaningful relationships with my students by creating a welcoming environment, by modeling positive behavior and by demonstrating respect and enthusiasm.

I have 25 years of teaching experience across grades 6th-8th and 9th-12th, college students and adults. I also have 18 years of experience with tutoring grades K-12th. I have a Professional teacher's certificate in English, Language and Literature, a Reading Endorsement, ESOL Endorsement, and I am TEFL/TESOL certified. I also have a certificate for Science of Reading. My extensive education journey includes a few bachelor's degrees with one being in English, Language and Literature. I have a Masters' degree in Literacy in the Content Areas and Criminal Justice. I was awarded Teacher of the Year and the most distinguished award as Highly Effective Teacher. These experiences and accolades have given me opportunities to make learning engaging and innovative. My teaching experiences have also afforded me the opportunity to display a personality that flows with patience, support, enthusiasm and on a daily basis. Let's learn, explore and soar together!
