Bio

I believe students learn best by finding a way to engage them and make learning interesting. I also think kids learn better when it seems fun instead of just being another task to get finished with. Evaluation is done continually. Sometimes it's immediate verbal feedback. Other times it is through different assessments like tests and projects. I believe it is important to remember everyone learns in their own way, and to have fun while learning. Goals will be different with every student. Some will need academic goals only, some might need help with organizing, and others might need help with creativity or critical thinking. My goal is to determine where each kid is at for that day, and go from there. For tutoring sessions to be the most beneficial I think it will be important to make students feel seen and understood. My goal is to make them realize they aren't struggling to learn alone. My hope is to be there not only to teach them, but to encourage them to never give up.

Teacher Specialization

I really enjoy finding ways to help children learn whatever it is they're struggling with. I have a bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. I have taught high school (9-12th) Life Skills, and all subject levels for Pre-K - 5th grade.I also substitute taught for 6-8th grade for 3 years. I have filled in as a long-term substitute teacher for teachers who had medical reasons requiring them to be absent for a long period of time; then, I homescoool taught for 2 years consecutively. After that, I went back into substitute teaching until the last 3 years, when I had to bring our children who were struggling to learn in a large class setting home. My goal is to do my best at figuring out how each child can learn and retain the information. I have no prior experience with virtual education as a teacher; am looking forward to learning! I have no specialization certificates as those aren't needed to homeschool. However, dyslexia is something I've become very familiar with due to our own kid.
