Bio
I knew from the time I was in elementary school that someday I would become an educator. I absolutely love working with students and get such joy in my interactions with students and their academic successes. Students learn best in a positive and nurturing environment where they feel comfortable taking academic risks in order to succeed as learners. Therefore, my approach is student centered so I can focus on individual students needs and strengths. Also, I encourage active engagement in the learning process by instilling a love of learning by connecting lessons to real life applications and encouraging curiosity and critical thinking. It is important to provide a variety of activities using various strategies to address all student learning styles in order to help them meet their potential and achieve growth. Also, I will provide opportunities for students to develop skills such as critical thinking, communication, and collaboration.
Teacher Specialization
Currently, I am a grade 6 language arts teacher and have taught all levels in middle school (grades 6, 7, and 8). I have been teaching for 30 years. I also have experience in elementary school. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, a Masters Degree in Special Education, and a Sixth Year Degree (2nd Masters Degree) in Curriculum and Instruction.
