Bio
I have a Master's degree in teaching. I am a certified to teacher in the United States, in both English and Social Studies. I have a very wide range of experience, spanning over 8 years, including 2 years teaching in Saudi Arabia. I have taught US History, US Government, World History, Economics, English and Big History. I am TESOL certified (120 hours, in-classroom.) I have a Bachelor's Degree with a double major in English and Political Science. I believe teaching is a performing art, I believe the teacher's first job is to capture the attention of the student. The students will not be interested in the subject unless they see that the teacher is interested first.
Teacher Specialization
I’ve had a lot of success working with autistic students. I'm not a therapist, but I'm autistic myself. I wasn't diagnosed until my 20s, so I challenged myself more and learned to "pass" in a lot of situations. I think it ended up being a good thing. If you have an autistic kid who has not responded well to traditional tutoring, I may be able to help. I also tutor a lot of math. I specialize in Middle & High School, especially Algebra. I was considered a "math genius" as a kid, I took advanced Calculus in 10th grade. But it's been a lot of years. It is vital that students send me their assignments BEFORE our session, so I have a chance to review. I'm certified to teach ELA grades 7-12 and have taught in the public schools but I also taught ELLs to ages ranging from Kindergarten to senior citizens . I'm certified in Social Studies grades 7-12. I was almost the entire social studies department at a small private school, where I taught World History, US Govt, Econ and Big History.
