Hi! I'm Amber. I’m a passionate educator with 18+ years of experience as a special education teacher and tutor. I specialize in reading instruction using a multi-sensory, hands-on approach that makes learning engaging and accessible. I believe in the power of a growth mindset and strive to create a supportive environment where every student feels valued and capable. Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading, cooking, hiking with my dog, attending my kids' sports events, and spending time at the beach. A curious mind, I believe, makes the best teacher and learner!
Teacher Specialization
I have a Masters Degree in Special Education (K-12) and a Bachelors in Early Childhood Special Education. I specialize in reading instruction for students in grades K-5 grounded in the Science of Reading, using structured literacy, Orton-Gillingham principles, and UFLI strategies. With a background in special education, I create individualized, multi-sensory lessons that support diverse learners, including those with dyslexia and ADHD. My focus areas include phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension—helping students build strong, confident literacy skills tailored to their unique needs. I am also certified in Math K-9. Specializing in helping students build confidence by breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps.
