Bio
When learning to read, students learn best with explicit instruction and practice on a skill. As I get to know your child, I tailor instruction to meet their needs. It doesn't look the same for everyone. We can work together to help your child become a better reader. After completing an assessment, we begin at the student's level and build from there. Reading is like building a tower. You need a strong foundation to start. I can teach your child a skill during a session but the hard work is the independent practice after the lesson. This helps the student work toward mastering the reading skill. I like to get to know students. I like to connect with them a few minutes at the beginning of each session. It sets a nice tone for the session time. I have an idea about what kind of mood the child is in. It helps me know how to go about the session time. It does make a difference in the approach for the session. I am a special education teacher but my passion is being a Reading Therapist.

I have been an online Reading Therapist for 6 years. I have 15 years as a Special Education teacher in a public school. I am a Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist certified by the Center for Effective Reading which is the International Dyslexia Assosciation. I am a licensed Indiana Special Education Teacher.
