Bio

Hi! I am excited to introduce myself and begin a productive relationship with you. I am widowed, with five "children"; 3 are human and 2 are dogs! I love the outdoors, whether it is camping, hiking, or simply working in my yard. Just get me outside! In order to teach any subject, but mathematics in particular, the most important approach is to figure out what you know and build from there. Listening, and creating a comfortable, nonjudgemental relationship with you is key! My goals for us are to give you more confidence in mathematics by targeting and remediating weaknesses in prerequisite skills, and to be successful in your present mathematics course. I will use a variety of presentation and mathematical tools and will give you daily feedback, as well as suggestions for ways to reinforce your skills moving forward. I look forward to helping you gain mastery of mathematics, and in doing so, you will feel more confident and may even begin to enjoy mathematics!

Teacher Specialization

During my 40 years in education, I have taught mathematics and various science courses in Lexington, KY, and on Virginia and Maryland's Eastern Shores in both public and private schools. I have taught individuals, small groups, and whole classes, both virtually and in-person. The past 10 years I have been an instructional coach; my responsibilities included helping teachers identify individual students' strengths and weaknesses and planning excellent lessons.
