Bio

I am a licensed Alternative Educator with endorsements in Mathematics and Talented and Gifted (TAG) education. With over 20 years of experience, I have also taught executive functioning skills to help students succeed beyond the classroom. In 2024, I was honored to be inducted into the Iowa Association of Alternative Education Hall of Fame and named High School Teacher of the Year in my district. I believe every student can succeed when given the right support, high expectations, and a safe, respectful environment. My classroom is built on trust, consistency, and collaboration, where students feel comfortable taking risks and embracing challenges. Using innovative strategies, technology, and strong relationships, I help students grow academically and personally so they gain confidence, develop critical skills, and leave better prepared for future success.

With over 20 years of experience in education, I specialize in supporting students with diverse learning needs through innovative and inclusive teaching practices. My background spans high school mathematics instruction, alternative learning coordination, and curriculum development, with expertise in Algebra I & II, Geometry, Applied Math, and credit recovery programs. I have led initiatives to improve student engagement and academic success, including literacy support, dropout prevention programming, and after-school learning opportunities. As a licensed 5-12 Mathematics and K-12 Talented and Gifted educator with administrative credentials, I bring strong skills in mentoring, program evaluation, and collaborative leadership to create positive, student-centered learning environments.
