Bio

It's not uncommon that I hear exclamations like, "You're my favorite tutor!" or "Is our tutoring session done already?" I'm a firm believer that the more engaged a learner is, the more information they'll retain and more skills they'll be able to put into practice in the real world. I do my best to capture student interest by having discussions about real-world scenarios, no matter what subject we're working on. Students are regularly assessed for comprehension throughout and at the end of sessions via strategic skill checks. During tutoring sessions with me, learners enthusiastically master grade level standards and develop critical thinking, perseverance, and creativity along the way. I also edit books and love chatting with writers, so when I'm not helping students explore the great wide world of learning, I'm usually reading oodles of books. That, or taking my cat on a walk (he loves chasing lizards!).

Teacher Specialization

I have extensive experience working with students of all ability levels. As a teacher who holds certified endorsements for Reading and English Speakers of Other Languages, I have particular expertise in teaching ELA. I used to teach English to children and adults at the LADO International Institute and have plenty of experience with multi-tiered systems of support for students who need that extra specialized assistance.
