Bio
Hello my name is Derek Adams. My teaching philosophy is that everyone can learn in various ways. We don’t all get to the same path the same way but it’s important we get there. My job is to teach the tools that will help students make the choices to complete the tasks. I believe in making education fun and relatable using real world examples to be college and career ready. I enjoy laughing and joking with students but never at the sake of learning as we must complete the tasks necessary for their success. Being personable is what makes learning enjoyable for all parties. It is my hope to continue that inspiration and motivation here at Stride.
Teacher Specialization
I have taught first grade and third through seventh. In seventh grade I have taught ELD, history and science. In tenth and eleventh grade science and history. I have also taught seventh and eighth grade AVID. I personally have helped multiple high school student volunteers in their AP and IB ELA and history courses. As for my self and my education, I hold 3 teaching credentials in multiple subject, history and arts media and entertainment. I also have my masters degree in curriculum.
