Bio
As a teacher, I am very hands on; my students participated in a variety of labs and projects. My goal as an educator is to encourage students to think for themselves, challenge themselves to reach their full potential, and have fun learning. I believe every student can and will learn and reach their potential - especially when a positive and creative learning environment is established. I have been in education for 25 years and am certified Early Childhood through 9th grade. I spent 2 years in 3rd grade and then transitioned to Middle School. I have taught every subject in middle school with an emphasis in PE/Health and Science. I directed Science Fair for 22 years and sponsored local Science Fair. My students attended State Science fair for 15 years and every year medals and special honors were received. I also hold an EMT license and work as a volunteer firefighter/first responder. This knowledge and real life experience helps provide context to my science and health lessons.
Teacher Specialization
In 25 years of teaching, I have taught every subject possible. I created a STEM curriculum where students participated in contests for egg drop, pasta bridges, volcanoes, paper airplanes, and other activities. I also developed a science fair curriculum for middle school. My students participated at State Science Fair and in 15 years received 41 medals, 12 special awards, and 8 top awards. I was the Regional Fair director and State Board Science Fair member for 2 years.
