Bio
My name is Charlie Ly and I've been an educator since 2014. In my spare time, I enjoy solving puzzles (games, physical puzzles, problems from standardized tests), and reading. Education offers me the opportunity to share my knowledge and build an interest in the STEM subjects. Understanding why academic concepts are useful in addition to their applications in the real world helps to elevate learning beyond "scoring well in class." Establishing intial interest and curiosity is what makes students want to learn. My experience in both one on one settings and the classroom has honed my ability to meet students where they are, identify areas of potential growth and reinforcement, and allowed me to challenge students with higher application based problems to push them beyond regular classroom expectations.
Teacher Specialization
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Houston and I've tutored students since 2014 in Algebra I&II, Geometry, Pre-Calclus, Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. I also work with test prep for the ISEE, SAT, and ACT exams. In 2018-2024, I taught as an Algebra I teacher which has given me insight on the unique learning processes for different students.
