Bio
Even though teaching is my second career, I’ve always been drawn to the classroom. My first career was a journalist working for different news outlets, including Detroit PBS (the home of Elmo and Big Bird. But I've always loved teaching. After working for a few years in brick-and-mortar schools, I joined the Michigan Virtual Charter Academy and have not looked back. I love building connections with students and providing them with a safe and engaging place to expand their knowledge, as well as creating new and creative ways to make learning fun and exciting, and connecting it to real-world experiences. My favorite part of being an English teacher is using new tools and ideas to make writing fun and interesting. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband, two children (a 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl), and a spoiled mini-Bernedoodle, known to sneak one or more appearances on camera.
