Bio
Hello! My name is Dee Phan and I am a dedicated and passionate educator committed to fostering curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning in every student. I believe every child has unique strengths and the potential to succeed when supported and inspired. My goal as a tutor is to help every student overcome any academic barriers they may be experiencing. I am known for fostering positive relationships with students. I take a gentle approach to guiding students to conquer their learning goals and I employ active listening skills to ensure students are heard. Most importantly, I try my best to make learning as fun and engaging as possible!
Teacher Specialization
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Buffalo State College. I pursued my passion for teaching by obtaining my Master's of Science degree in Education with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction from California State University, Long Beach. My certifications include: Elementary Education (grades K-5); ESL (grades K-12); Art (grades K-12), and Science of Teaching Reading. I have over 28 years of teaching experience. Most of my classroom experience was conducted in K-5 elementary classrooms. I served as a campus reading specialist and ESL specialist. I have 1 year of online teaching experience. In addition, I served in educational leadership for 5 years, but my true passion is teaching students! I love to help students overcome academic barriers and to help them feel successful in all subject areas.
