Bio

Hi there! I’m Mrs. South, and I can’t wait to start this learning journey with you. I am a teacher of 12 years who loves turning learning into an adventure. I speak four languages, have lived on three continents, and enjoy helping students grow into confident, curious thinkers. When I’m not teaching, I’m homeschooling my three kids, cooking from scratch, or exploring nature with a good book in hand. I believe that students learn best when they are given autonomy and accountability to purse deeper knowledge. I believe that education is the weapon to conquer ignorance in our world. There is potential in every student and as their tutor, it is my duty to help pull out that potential so that they can shine. I make sure to take a step back and review/celebrate previous accomplishments so that they can be motivators for new goals. I like to create a safe, supportive space where learning can flourish. Teacher Specialization

I have worked with English Learners (ESL) for the most part of my teaching. I love to awaken young writers abilities and watch them grow. Since state testing can be daunting for students, I have worked with students to guide them in gaining confidence to take and pass state tests. With my 12 years in education, I have taught virtually for 6, homeschooled for 3.
