Bio
As part of my educational philosophy, I believe students learn best when presented with their unique learning style. Those learning styles include a rotation of visual, auditory, reading and writing, and tactile. I believe a few instructional strategies that best target growth in learning gaps would be KWL charts, compare and contrast using Venn diagrams, Think-pair-share activities, and checks for understanding using Bloom's taxonomy. Let me expound further on how differentiation leads a student to mastery. A visual learner might create a graphic organizer while an auditory learner might give an oral report. A reading and writing learner could chose a book report while a tactile learner could build a diorama. As part of my evaluation philosophy, I believe that assessment is essential to showcase mastery. The tutor can choose from a rotation of assessment tools such as: daily checks for understanding, informal assignments, and formal quizzes and tests.
Teacher Specialization
My master's degree has a concentration in dealing with students with autism. I have 14 years experience teaching core subjects in middle school 6-8 and high school special education 9-12. My general certifications let me teach kindergarten through 8th grade regular education as well as EC-12 special education.
