Bio
Hi, I’m Dr. Toussaint! I’m an educator who believes deeply in the power of connection, curiosity, and confidence-building. I approach tutoring with the mindset that every learner brings their own strengths, stories, and ways of understanding the world, and my job is to honor that while helping them grow. My educational philosophy centers on meeting students exactly where they are and giving them the tools, strategies, and encouragement they need to move forward. I believe learning should feel meaningful, supportive, and empowering. Whether we’re working on reading, writing, or developing stronger learning habits, I create a space where students feel safe to try, make mistakes, ask questions, and celebrate breakthroughs. My goal as a tutor is to help students gain clarity and confidence, so they leave each session feeling more capable than when they arrived. I focus on practical skills, clear explanations, and personalized support that adapts to each learner’s pace and needs.
Teacher Specialization
I have worked in education for over 30 years, teaching students from preschool through middle school in both traditional and virtual settings. My virtual teaching experience includes interactive online small-group and one-on-one instruction to keep students engaged, supported, and confident during learning. I’ve taught a wide range of content areas, with a strong emphasis on reading, writing, early literacy, English language development, and foundational skills for emerging readers. I also have extensive experience supporting English learners. I hold a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, along with credentials and specialized training in literacy, reading intervention, language development, and supporting diverse learners. My professional focus includes structured literacy, early reading acquisition, data-informed instruction, and helping students build the skills they need to become independent, successful readers and writers.
