Bio
Hi! Student success, building student confidence, making learning more interesting and fun are all areas I am passionate about. Over half of my 11 years teaching have been with K12/Stride, and I am loving it! I have worked with multiple age groups in different capacities as a GenEd, ELA, Intervention, ESL, and Science teacher/tutor. Helping students invest in their education and personal success is something I am passionate about, and I love finding ways to make content more interesting! Strategies I enjoy using in my tutoring/teaching style include: gamification, goal making, chunked material, tailoring to student needs/interests, and more! Some of my hobbies include gaming, anime, art, outdoors, animals, reading, and cooking. One of my current goals is to speak Japanese fluently (part of my heritage is Japanese)!
Teacher Specialization
One of my main interests is English Language Arts and Literacy (elementary and middle school), and I love helping students become passionate and successful in a subject they may not initially enjoy and make it fun! My teaching certification is specialized in Generalist Grades 4-8 and also an endorsement in English as a Second Language. My experience extends beyond my certifications, so feel free to ask if there are any other subjects or skills your student needs help in. I also tutored college freshmen and helped them acclimate to college life/courses. I was awarded Educator of the Year as an ELA Interventionist for my department! I have taught in brick-and-mortar for over five years and transitioned to virtual teaching over six years ago. Part of my academic background includes: Education, ESL, computer information systems, and philosophy/theology. I have a Master's Degree in Education and love being a lifelong learner!
