Bio
I am a passionate educator with two years of experience in New York City Public Schools, as well as over five years of tutoring students from fourth grade through the college level. I have worked with students in bilingual and ICT classrooms and enjoy meeting learners where they are while helping them build confidence and strong academic skills. I believe it is crucial to build meaningful relationships with students by getting to know their interests and learning styles in order to best support their growth. I am known for being patient and supportive, and I enjoy teaching students strategies they can use independently to succeed in reading, writing, and beyond. My goal in tutoring is to ensure that each student makes measurable progress in the areas they need most while developing confidence as an independent learner.
Teacher Specialization
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Adolescent English Education (grades 7–12) and have two and a half years of virtual tutoring experience. I taught 7th grade English Language Arts for a year and a half and completed a half-year of student teaching across 6th, 7th, 10th, and 11th grades. I am well equipped to teach in virtual settings, having completed my own college education during the pandemic, which required me to adapt quickly to online learning and become highly proficient with digital learning tools. I specialize in English Language Arts, including grammar and composition, writing, phonics, reading comprehension, advanced literature, creative writing, and state test prep (including the SAT). I have experience designing lessons aligned with New York State standards, leading small-group instruction, and supporting students with diverse learning needs. I also work extensively with students throughout the writing process—from brainstorming and drafting to revision and editing.
