Bio

Hi there and welcome to K12 Tutoring! Thank you for taking the time to visit my profile. I hold many roles but my favorite one is "Mom". It has been my greatest pleasure helping him grow into the young man he is today! He is 20 years old now and the roles have been reversed somewhat. He teaches me more than the I teach him these days! I enjoy every minute! We enjoy our home in the country with our 2 dogs, an Aussie named Red and a Labrador mix named Rio. My son taught me patience and resilience as I raised him. My time in the classroom afforded the same lessons. I feel that every child has the ability to achieve great success with the right guidance from the teacher. There are many different learning styles, auditory, visual and kinesthetic for example, and we, as teachers, must cater to student styles to aid their learning outcomes.

Teacher Specialization

As a graduate of East Carolina University, I hold a Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education and a Minor in Child Development. My experiences are varied and include time as a Teaching Assistant in Third Grade, a Teacher in many roles (preschool, Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade and Fifth Grade), and a Tutor online and in person for grades K-5th. I also worked as a Director of Education for Sylvan Learning Center and a Child Care Director for a local church. Each of these roles afforded quality experiences that have shaped my approach to teaching today. With my experience and education, I feel confident that I can help your child succeed!
