Bio

My name is Mr. Fitzhugh, and I am a certified math teacher. I’ve been married for almost 18 years, and my wife and I are raising two teenage boys who keep life exciting. I love traveling with my family, cheering on the San Francisco 49ers, and enjoying all things Star Wars. I’ve been a lifelong gamer since the days of the Super Nintendo, and I even used Super Smash Brothers tournaments as incentives for my 7th graders to motivate academic improvement. I chose to become a full-time tutor because I believe I can make a deeper impact working with students individually rather than in a classroom of 30. One fun fact about me is that I’ve visited every state in the U.S. except Maine and Alaska—and those two are definitely on my list.

Teacher Specialization

I have a Masters in teaching Secondary Mathematics from Johns Hopkins University and I have experience teaching students with most forms of learning disabilities. I have 12 years of classroom teaching experience in public and charter schools as well as one year of full-time math tutoring experience. I have two teenage sons who both have ADHD and my oldest is gifted and on the autism spectrum. I have taught all levels of math from 4th grade math to high school Algebra 2.
