Bio
My name is Janine Draschner. I am an experienced high school history and government teacher with 17 years experience in Fairfax County Public Schools. I have taught US and World History at all different levels, as well as Government. I am passionate about helping students become confident, independent thinkers by helping them master the historical thinking skills, including reading critically, interpretation of sources and analytical writing. My teaching philosophy is that students learn best when they are actively engaged in meaningful practice to master these skills. I have taught the critical thinking skills in all levels of classes and believe that all students can be successful with the proper support. I bring patience, enthusiasm, humor, and high expectations to my teaching and tutoring. My classroom is a positive, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
