Bio
Hello! My name is Jared, and I'm very excited to work with you. My love for teaching has ranged from being in the classroom, being a UIL Computer Science coach, and exploring the world as a life-long learner. As a professional educator, I believe students learn best when they're given the chance to explore, question, and discover an answer for themselves rather than simply being told it — struggle isn't something to avoid, it's where the real learning happens. My goal as a tutor is to build both mathematical confidence and genuine curiosity, helping students see themselves as capable problem solvers who can tackle something unfamiliar without fear of getting it "wrong" along the way. I take students' thinking seriously, even when it looks different from the textbook approach, and I aim to create a space that feels supportive enough to take intellectual risks in. Growth over perfection, curiosity over memorization — let's dig into some math together and see what you're capable of!
Teacher Specialization
I bring 13+ years of experience in mathematics education, including service as a department chair overseeing a team of 18 teachers. My high school teaching experience spans instruction in Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus, Statistics, SAT Preparation, and Computer Science - including Java and Python programming. I also bring 6 years of virtual/remote teaching experience through one-on-one online math tutoring. I hold a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Texas A&M University and a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin, and I am currently completing a Postgraduate Program in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning through UT Austin's McCombs School of Business. My specializations include advanced and accelerated mathematics instruction, curriculum development, and integrating computational and data-driven approaches into math education.
