Bio

My name is Jessie and I taught English for 16 years varying between grades 7-12. I also spent time each year running tutoring groups within the grade I taught. As an English teacher, I love to read, but I also find the most joy when I am spending time with my husband, two children, and dog. We love to take walks, golf cart rides, and take off on random day trip adventures! I chose to become a tutor because while in the classroom I saw students that really struggled and couldn't always get the support they needed. With class sizes as large as they are, a classroom teacher unfortunately doesn't always have the time or resources to help each individual student exactly how they need helped. I want to bridge that gap and help students who need a little extra to succeed and meet their potential. I believe in meeting students where they are and working toward where they need to be. Personalized instruction and connections build self-confidence and success!

Teacher Specialization

I have an undergraduate degree in Integrated Language arts for grades 7-12 and have sixteen years experience in those grades. I also have a masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction as well as being a certified librarian/media specialist. I have additional three years of experience completing long-term substitute jobs. During my years of experience, I have spent countless hours working one-on-one with students who need extra help to ensure they grasp the material and are successful in their academic careers all while promoting a positive attitude toward learning.
