Bio
I am Mr. Castillo. My students call me Mr. C. I am 46 years old from. I apply a progressive approach in teaching. This means I see each student as unique and capable of achieving his or her potentials. I balance traditional and modern approaches in teaching math. I believe that understanding concepts with rigor as an effective method in learning. Technology like AI should provide us options and alternative views or strategies but this should used with moderation and purpose. This brings me to my goal: to help you understand underlying concepts to help you proceed with practice and exploring options. To do this, I need you to see me as your facilitator or a guide. I am here to point you to right directions but unlocking concepts in math and guiding you through the steps. I hope to work with you in realizing your potentials in math.
Teacher Specialization
I have been teaching Mathematics for 29 years, 27 years in a private Jesuit Catholic School in Manila and 1.5 years in Canon City, CO USA. Most of my online teaching happened during the pandemic time. For grades 4 to 6, i specialized teaching geometry, fractions, decimals and percent (ratio) and problem solving. I am trained in the Singapore Bar Model of problem solving. For grades 8 to 10, I specialized in teaching solving linear equations and inequalities, relations and functions, absolute value equations, quadratic functions, polynomials functions, radical and exponential functions, and logarithmic functions.
