Bio
Hi everyone! My name is Jordan! I am a middle/high school social studies teacher. I have worked in an S.S. setting with grades 7-12, but have worked with students in grades 4-12 as an educational technician (ed. tech). My philosophy revolves around love and kindness in the classroom. I believe the first step in creating a space where all students can learn is by first creating a place where all students feel safe and loved. Only then will we all succeed academically! I received my degree in December 2024, after student teaching in a public high school. I taught classes such as Cold War Studies (20th-century freshman class), History of Warfare, and Fake News (a class about identifying reliable, primary sources). I have also student taught in a middle school, working with 7th and 8th graders. My passion as a social studies teacher is history! However, I am educated on most social studies topics, such as political science and geography, economics, psychology/sociology, and many more!
Teacher Specialization
I have student-taught middle and high school social studies classes, covering historical topics such as the Cold War, the Civil War, and the Age of Exploration. As well as long-term subbed in a variety of middle and high school classes, such as 8th-grade math and high school chemistry. As an educational technician, I worked one-on-one and in small groups with students in a variety of classes, as well as in a middle school special education classroom. In addition to working in schools, as a college student I volunteered with the UMaine Cooperative Extension 4-H program, where I taught online after-school and summer educational programs. These programs ranged from STEM topics such as 'the art of math' and 'coding' to topics such as introductory Spanish, the Oregon Trail, and birding.
