Bio
Hello! My name is Katelyn Parks, and I live in Massachusetts with my husband, our four children, and our dog. As both an educator and a parent, I understand that every student approaches learning differently, and I believe that creating a supportive environment is an important part of helping students succeed. My educational philosophy centers on meeting students where they are and tailoring my approach to their individual needs. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and working through challenges without feeling pressured. When working with a student, I take time to get to know them and understand how they approach learning. I ask questions about which areas they find challenging and which they already feel comfortable with. From there, I can adjust my teaching approach. Ultimately, my goal as a tutor is to create a comfortable, positive learning environment where students can build both their skills and their confidence.
Teacher Specialization
I have 8 years of experience in education, teaching students in grades 9–12 across all areas of mathematics. I have experience teaching Algebra, Algebra II, and Geometry, with a focus on helping students strengthen their mathematical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and confidence. In addition to my traditional classroom experience, I have two years of dedicated virtual education experience, as well as one year of remote teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. These experiences have strengthened my ability to adapt instruction to an online environment, engage students virtually, and use technology to provide effective and accessible mathematics instruction. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Bridgewater State University and my Master’s degree in Education from MCLA. My combination of mathematics content knowledge, educational training, and classroom experience allows me to provide instruction that is responsive to the individual needs of each student.
