Bio

Hello everyone. I am Kayla Fells, and I am grateful and excited that you are considering me for your students/children. Ever since I was a child, I have always wanted to be a teacher. Now, I am living that lifelong dream both inside and outside the classroom. I believe all students can learn when given a chance and the proper support. I am kind of fun, and I try to make learning fun using games. My teaching style is hands-on, using manipulatives and scaffolding to slowly close learning gaps, which is what most tutors do. What separates me from the rest of the tutors is that I know what it is like to struggle in understanding what is taught in school. I have a disability that affected my content understanding when I was younger. My learning gaps were severe enough that I was placed in Special Education to close them. Thus, I know it is likely to be on the other side of that desk and not know what the teacher is talking about. Basically, I am empathetic to children's struggles.

Teacher Specialization

I am a licensed Special Education Teacher here in the State of Texas. My certifications include Generalist EC-6, Special Education EC-12, and Generalist 4-8. I worked in the local school district as a substitute for 3 years, which required me to teach lessons to a variety of grade levels kindergarten to 8th grade. I have also taught elementary and middle school students to read/ELAR. Currently, I am working as an inclusion teacher in a middle school.
