Bio

Hi! I am a creative, patient teacher who loves to connect with my students and get to know them. Reading and math are my two favorite subjects to teach. I love when students have that lightbulb moment and understand a concept for the first time. I enjoy doing hands-on lessons and incorporating students' interests when possible to keep them engaged. I believe a strong phonics base is needed to help students learn to read, and I think it's important to work on phonemic awareness and explicit phonics skills with young readers.

Teacher Specialization

I taught for 13 years at two different schools. The majority of my experience was in 1st and 2nd grade with many years teaching multi-age classrooms. I also have 7 years experience tutoring students preK-6 individually. I am certified to teach elementary and early childhood, as well as work as a reading specialist. I earned my Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education (age 3-grade 3) at the University of Dayton in Ohio and my Master's in Reading Education at Saginaw Valley State in Michigan.
