Bio
I believe students learn the most when they connect information to life experience. I like to help students make those connections by using analogies and references to music, pop culture and real world situations. I believe students connect with teachers who try to understand them as individuals and use their own experiences to make connections with students. My experiences as a special education teacher have allowed me to develop multiple strategies and techniques that help me individualize instruction. I spend my free time outside as much as possible. I enjoy hiking, gardening and taking care of animals. When it's cold or rainy, I prefer to be inside reading a book. I love to read fiction but am also interested in reading about brain development and the newest research on how our brains work when we are learning and how that process is impacted by different factors such as learning disabilities or brain injuries.
