Bio
Hello! My name is Marilyn Thomas, and I am excited to support your child in their learning journey. I am a proud mother of two wonderful sons, Daniel and Cory, whose childhood adventures continue to inspire both my teaching and parenting approach. When they were young, we cherished simple joys—weekly trips to playgrounds, library story times, and museum visits—creating meaningful memories that still guide my work with children today. My teaching philosophy is rooted in empathy, patience, and a deep understanding of each child’s unique needs and strengths. I am passionate about supporting children of all ages and have dedicated my career to nurturing young learners during their early developmental years. I believe strong relationships are the foundation of successful learning. I build connections with students by spending quality time with them, understanding their individual needs, and providing personalized support to help them grow with confidence and joy.
Teacher Specialization
Dedicated educator with over 15 years of experience across early childhood, elementary, and secondary education settings. I hold a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education and bring extensive hands-on experience in preschool classrooms, guest teacher, and supporting instruction in both public and school libraries. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked in virtual classrooms with students from kindergarten through high school, teaching a variety of content areas including physical education, music, mathematics, and language arts. As a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher, I am passionate about teaching practical life skills. My instructional areas include culinary arts, child development, garment construction, and quilt assembly. I also have a deep appreciation for children’s literature—particularly historical fiction. I am committed to supporting diverse learners and creating inclusive, engaging environments where students can thrive academically and personally.
