Bio
My name is Marisa Chavez. Throughout my career, I have worked in general education, special education, and administrative roles. These experiences have given me multiple perspectives that help me understand and support each student’s individual needs. I strive to create a learning environment where all students can thrive with confidence. My goal as a tutor is to support students while working towards strengthening their foundational skills in reading, writing, and math. I will build relationships with students by getting to know them, being open and responsive to their feelings and needs, and most of all creating a safe, supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and requesting help.
Teacher Specialization
I have been an educator for 21 years. I have spent all of my teaching career in the K–5 elementary setting. I taught in general education for ten years, working with third and fourth grades as well as providing reading intervention. I then transitioned to special education, where I served as a resource teacher and am currently a special day class teacher. Most of my years have been spent in person teaching, except for a year during Covid which was spent in a virtual setting.
