Bio

Hi! My name is Marla Glover. I absolutely love to learn, about anything and everything. So I learned how to take care of the many animals that I now have, including: pigs, goats, chickens, dogs, cats, geese, and ducks. When I am not taking care of them or helping my own children with their school work, I love to read anything I can get my hands on. Reading and my love of learning is why I became a teacher and now a tutor with Stride. I am so excited! I believe that a student must be met at their level to make progress. I enjoy giving meaningful feedback by celebrating the wins and working on the difficult parts. I aim to build confidence in my student's ability to reason through to the answer, no matter what the problem is. Critical thinking is a skill using in all subject areas as well as in real life. It is a skill that is built which mean I believe all students can learn it. I love celebrating my wins with my students and my favorite reminder is: You can't do it YET, let's learn!

Teacher Specialization

My degree is in Elementary Education from Chowan University. I am licensed for PreK - 6 in two different states, North Carolina and Virginia. I have taught Kindergarten for 4 years between Mississippi and Virginia. I have also taught 3rd grade for 3 years between Mississippi and Virginia. Lastly, I have taught 4th grade for 3 years in North Carolina as a departmentalized math teacher. No current virtual teaching experience (except Covid virtual teaching) but I have completing ESL online tutoring through another program.
