Bio
Education should be fun, extend beyond the classroom, and be meaningful to everyday life. Students need to experience the purposes behind what they are learning in a meaningful, applicable, and creative way. To me, the relationship between the teacher and student is more important than the subject itself. If the student feels comfortable, and is enjoying the learning process, the student can learn anything. I feel learning is a lifetime endeavor. Too often, it seems students only see their school as the learning environment; in reality, school is everywhere around us. I love to learn about different things, particularly different cultures. I do a lot of archery and training in the martial arts. I like to travel, particularly to new places, to experience the food, culture, history, and local people. I chose to tutor so I can continue evolving as an educator (particularly as a retired one) and focus on the skills and relationship, and less on the physical classroom management.
Teacher Specialization
Through my time in alternative education, as a resource specialist, and at the charter school, I have taught many subjects. I have extensive experience teaching reading and writing at the elementary school level, but I am also very adapt at Algebra Readiness, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra (A & B).
