Bio
Hi! I'm Mrs. Alston, and I love helping students learn, grow and build confidence. I recently retired from the classroom, and I am excited and ready to guide my new students to reach their potential. I use a multi-sensory approach to learning and break challenging tasks into smaller steps to help build understanding. I guide students using an I Do, We Do, You Do to give as much support as needed until students are confident on their own. My goal is to work with students in a fun and meaningful way in order to build confidence in skills and concepts. All students need to feel supported. I will build on a student's current strengths to help them grow.
Teacher Specialization
I hold Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Elementary Education with endorsements in Gifted and ESOL. My 30+ years of experience in teaching range from preschool to 6th grade and include self-contained classrooms, multi-age classrooms, resource teacher, substitute teacher and tutor. Most of my teaching career has been in Florida, but I have also taught in Mississippi and in the country of Latvia.
