Bio
My approach to teaching is to meet students wherever they are, make lessons interesting, and help them build confidence through encouragement and clear instruction. Some of my proudest moments include working as a Teacher Support Specialist, creating curriculum for the district, and being recognized as Campus Teacher of the Year and a Dallas ISD Distinguished Teacher. I am known for being warm, patient, and supportive in the classroom. I truly believe that every student can grow with the right support and guidance. Also, I believe that giving students an active role in their own success is empowered and fosters real learning. In my spare time, I love to craft, travel, and spend time with loved ones. I love to learn new things. I have always told my students that I learn just as much from them as they learn from me. So, I am looking forward to meeting and growing with you.
Teacher Specialization
I am a dedicated educator with over 20 years of experience helping students succeed in science. I earned my M.A. in Teaching from Dallas Baptist University and B.S. in Biology from Grambling State University. I specialize in secondary life science instruction and academic intervention. Although the majority of my experience has been in-person, I have always incorporated a virtual component in instruction to enhance my students' learning experience and prepare them for higher education. I’m skilled at using digital tools to create engaging, interactive lessons that support various learning styles. During remote learning, I helped design meaningful curriculum for students with limited resources, supported student interventions, and coached teachers in instructional strategies. My approach is student-centered, data-informed, and focused on building understanding through clear explanations, real-world connections, and consistent encouragement.
