Bio
Hello prospective students :-) People tell me I look young but I really do have 13 years of experience in schools all over the world! I've lived and taught in Costa Rica, New York, Chicago and Mexico. During the pandemic, I decided to step back from in-person teaching so that I could also develop as an artist. Now, I'm a Minnesota-based DJ and perform live music several nights a week while continuing to reach students through the convenience of Stride. Virtual learning is the future. As we move into an increasingly digital world, I believe integrating tech tools into the learning process is a double whammy. Students master key content knowledge and get ready for the workplace of the 2040s. I hope my tutoring inspires students to see a bigger purpose--the inherent value of exercising their minds--that underpins the micro details of each lesson. As their teacher, I am like the weather. I try to always present warm, curious energy so that students calibrate to that vibe.
Teacher Specialization
My expertise is English. I have taught from the highest level - AP English Literature and Composition - down to 6th grade, although I differentiated for many students below grade level. I'm confident teaching 3rd grade standards and up. Math is also a strength area. I taught 5th grade Math for a year early in my career. In high school I passed AP Calculus with a 5 and was captain of Math Team. Lastly, I'm fluent in Spanish with 4 years teaching bilingually in Mexico & Costa Rica.
