Bio
Hi! I’m Ruthie, and I love helping students become confident readers and writers. I’ve written and published two books myself so I can help you understand the writing process. I make instruction clear and easy to understand. I enjoy using active reading strategies along with lots of encouragement to help students truly comprehend what they read and to feel proud of their progress. My sessions are supportive, structured, and engaging—and I’m excited to learn with you!

I am an experienced Reading, ESL/ELL, and Writing tutor with over 25 years working in public schools and 6 years working online in remote education, teaching students all over the world. I specialize in helping students K-12 strengthen their reading comprehension, vocabulary, and confidence through clear, supportive instruction. I enjoy teaching Phonics, Reading, Writing, Social Studies, English Grammar, High School ELA, SAT Prep, and SSAT Prep. I strive to meet students where they are and help them grow step by step in a positive learning environment. My joy comes from the growth I get to witness after using my mastery-based approach. I studied at CSU Sacramento, where I received a degree in Social Science and a certification in Cross Cultural Language and Academic Development. I can’t wait to help you grow academically.
