Bio
My Name is Mrs. Hernando, and I am a dedicated educator with over 15 years of experience working with children from preschool through elementary grades. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Human Services and have earned teaching certification with a focus on early childhood and elementary education. Throughout my career, I have taught kindergarten, second, and third grade, as well as ESE Pre-K, and have provided both in-person and virtual tutoring. My teaching philosophy centers on creating a warm, structured environment where every child feels valued and capable of growth. I believe that learning happens best when students feel safe, supported, and engaged through interactive, hands-on lessons. Colleagues and families often describe me as patient, creative, and deeply invested in student success. I view teaching not only as a career but as a calling to inspire curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Teacher Specialization
My teaching specialization lies in early literacy, phonics, and foundational reading and math skills for kindergarten through third grade. I am highly experienced in using programs such as UFLI, Savvas Realize, and Gallopade, along with differentiated instruction and small-group interventions to meet the needs of all learners, including ESE and English Language Learners. Over the years, I have successfully transition my in-class teaching strategies to the online environment, creating engaging virtual lessons through interactive slides, visual supports, and structured routines that mirror the classroom experience. Whether working one-on-one or in small groups, I emphasize relationship-building, positive reinforcement, and a clear, consistent teaching approach that helps students gain confidence and independence.
