Bio
Hi, my name is Shaura and I have taught in Texas for many years. I am a mom and am very passionate about teaching. I like to read, be in the mountains or at the beach. I love spending time with my four kids. I became a tutor because I loved tutoring 6th-8th grade math and I want to spend time with my family that I decided to see if I could help more students and have a good balance of work and life, doing what I love and being with the people that I love. I believe students learn best when they feel safe and like they can be themselves and are heard. I love seeing the lightbulb go on in a student's head when they "get it" and then smile and tell you in their own words what they just understood. I think it is important for the students to trust me and know that I will do whatever I can to help them. I will greet them and ask them about themselves and keep us on the task at hand.
Teacher Specialization
I have taught 6th grade math, 5th grade reading, language arts, and social studies, 4th grade science and social studies. I am certified to teach 4-8 grade math/science/social studies/reading/language arts. My experience with teaching students and my own four children have helped prepare me to be a tutor.
