Bio
My philosophy of education has evolved as I’ve gained greater clarity and understanding of my role as a lifelong learner and educator. I now have a strong grasp of the expectations placed on educators and am confident in my ability to meet and exceed those expectations. My foundation rests in sound pedagogy, but it is also deeply rooted in empathy, justice, and the belief that every child deserves dignity and respect. My goals for tutoring would be to help students gain confidence in their ability to critically analyze a variety of texts, and to also support students in learning strategies to build fluency and comprehension. I build strong relationships with students by getting to know them as individuals and honoring their strengths and needs. My classroom is a supportive, inclusive space where every student feels respected and encouraged to succeed. I am a mom of two beautiful girls and grandmother to 4 amazing grand children. I like to write, sing, and produce music.

With 20 years in the teaching profession, 6 years in virtual education, I specialize in reading comprehension and all things literacy with a strong focus on supporting struggling readers. Helping students develop effective strategies and understand how they learn best is my strength.
