Bio
Hi all! I'm Tyler, and I believe students learn best when they feel known, safe, and encouraged to push beyond their limits. Whether it's in creative writing, critical analysis, or academic research, I do my best to equip every student approach our lessons with a growth mindset—what is going well, and what can we improve upon? I always strive to create a welcoming, inspiring learning environment. Who students are as human beings and learners is absolutely foundational to our work together. I'm a published novelist, a dad (of 5) and recently ran my first half-marathon!
Teacher Specialization
I have taught at the middle school, high school, and college levels for 15 years, including 6 online. While I specialize in English (and Creative Writing), I have also taught in Film, Education, AP Seminar, and College Admissions. I have a Bachelor's in English from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MFA from the University of British Columbia.
