Bio
Hi! I am Wendy Baker! I set high expectations for my students while providing necessary scaffolding. The most important part of teaching is establishing positive relationships with students and families. Having that trust in place is essential for academic achievement. I also take social/emotional learning seriously. Basic needs must be met before effective teaching and learning can happen. I enjoy engaging my students through technology infused instruction and with problem-based learning.
Teacher Specialization
I have an elementary education degree (k-6) for all subjects. I also have a Master's in Gifted Education degree certifying me to teach gifted students in grades K-12. I have been teaching online since 2020. I began as a gifted education virtual teacher for a K-8 school. Since then, I have worked with students in second grade all the way up through ninth grade. I have a lot of experience with teaching reading and literacy. I also have a certification in problem-based learning which I used with academically gifted classes.
