Bio
Hi, I've been in education for over 5 years. For my education philosophy, I prefer to center on student voice. I prefer to build rapport with students by focusing lessons on their needs and what they already know. My tutoring goals are to encourage students to get as much practice as they can, such as providing modeling and guided practice. As a tutor, I'm used to helping students write from scratch--whether it's beginning from their outlines or giving feedback on their writing. I know that reading critically and writing well takes time. I hope to use my time as a tutor to help provide additional support, practice, and review for students' learning.
Teacher Specialization
I have taught English and Social Studies for mainly the middle school grade span: grades 6, 7, and 8 for 5 years. I have also taught high school students. I am familiar with teaching U.S. history, world history, and helping students to analyze and write narratives, argumentative, and informative styles. I've taught distance learning for around 2 years. I have a Bachelor's in History and have a master's in Education. I am used to designing curriculum based on Common Core standards.
