Bio
I am very excited to use my education and experiences to tailor an educational experience to each student and therefor help students reach their full potential. In my experience I have found that is essential to prioritize building rapport with students by learning about their interests and incorporating those into the learning process whenever I can. It is important to personalize instructions to meet each student's individual needs and to gather information on the student such as likes/dislikes, goals, and learning style and to use that information to tailor an educational experience to each student. I believe that each child is unique, with their own strength's, challenges, and learning styles whether that is visual, auditory, or tactile so discovering that first is key to making strides in learning. My goals would be that students would be able to use what they learn in real life scenarios and to know why the skill being taught is important.
Teacher Specialization
I am a dedicated educator and past school counselor with over 20 years' experience supporting cognitive, academic, and emotional growth from preschool-high school. I have also completed Science of Reading training. My experience has spanned from teaching and/or providing emotional support to children in foster care, DYS, schools, preschools, and the community. My most recent experience has been in kindergarten and providing Social Emotional Learning and classroom lessons to student's kindergarten to 5th grade. My 6 years of homeschooling has also brought me more experience in grades Kindergarten-7th grade teaching all core subjects and electives. I also have my Master of Education/Counseling and completed internships in elementary and high schools. Throughout my experience I have worked with children with social emotional challenges, behavioral challenges, special needs, and learning disabilities. I am excited to contribute to helping students reach their full potential.
