Bio
HI!! My name is Brooke Houdek. I am a first grade teacher at a private school in Wisconsin. This is my fourth year of teaching and I truly believe it was my calling. I reside in Minnesota on my husband's family's dairy farm. We recently welcomed our first son and I love being his mom. A few of my hobbies include reading, working out, walking, and spending lots of time outside on our farm. I chose to be a tutor because I want to share my passion with as many students as I can. My educational philosophy is that all children are made unique and therefore have to be educated in the way that best helps them grow and succeed. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to education and tutoring. I strive to help them love to learn in order to prepare them for their futures. I strive to form a strong relationship with each student in order to learn how to effectively individualize instruction. I look forward to workingwith you!
Teacher Specialization
I love teaching all subjects, but I would definitely say I have the most knowledge and enjoy teaching ELA and math the most. I have been in education for 4 years and have taught 1st grade for all 4 of those years. I teach ELA/reading, math, science, social studies, and handwriting. I student taught in kindergarten and first grade as well as in middle school math. I was also a full time subsitute for half of a school year and taught all grades K-6. I have a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education K-6 with a Minor in Middle Level Mathematics. I have never taught virtually, but most of my college was online due to covid so I have a lot of experience with technology. I know I have a lot to learn, but am excited for this oppertunity:)
